Fishing
Lake Eildon and its tributaries are renowned for
their excellent fishing. Popular species include brown and
rainbow trout, murray cod, golden perch (yellowbelly) and
english perch (redfin). A variety of methods are used to
target these species including bait and lure fishing from a
boat or from the shore or river bank, trolling from a boat
and fly fishing, which is especially popular in the rivers. There are a number of bait and tackle suppliers in the
area, including at the Jerusalem Creek kiosk itself. There
are also a number of Fly Fishing guides and schools that
operate within the Eildon area

4WDriving,
Trail Bike riding and Mountain Biking
The
scope for 4WDriving, Trail Bike riding and Mountain Biking
in the mountains around the park is huge. Jerusalem Creek is
on the eastern edge of the High Country Goldfields that
extend from Jameison to Walhalla and the bush has numerous
tracks and ghost towns from the gold mining era. As well as
relatively easy drives through the spectacular bush
sceneray, this area abounds in challenging climbs, descents
and river crossings for the more experienced 4x4
enthusiasts. Accurate maps of the area by historian and 4WD
enthusiast Rudi Paoletti are available from the Jerusalem
Creek General Store or online at
www.gondwanaonline.com.au. You are welcome to
contact us for
more information.
Bushwalking & Horseriding
For
those who like a slower pace more connected with the
environment, the local parks and nearby ranges provide
limitless scope for bushwalkers. There are also several
businesses that cater for guided horseriding tours for
anything from an introductory few hours though to longer
rides that include one or more nights stay at the various
camp sites throughout the area.
